Southwell Racecourse Guide
About
Southwell racecourse in Nottinghamshire is an all-weather Flat track, racing on Tapeta since 2021, with a turf course used for National Hunt racing.
The Track & Course
The all-weather track is a left-handed oval of around a mile and a quarter with a straight five-furlong sprint course. Before the switch to Tapeta it raced on Fibresand, which was famous for producing course specialists, so older form here should be treated with care.
Going & Ground
The Tapeta surface rides consistently and allows racing through the winter. The jumps track is usually run on good or good to soft ground.
Key Races
Southwell's cards are mostly handicaps and novice races, but its all-weather fixtures play an important part in the winter Flat programme and the all-weather championship series.
