Sedgefield Racecourse Guide
About
Sedgefield racecourse in County Durham is a National Hunt course that races for most of the year, with a loyal local following.
The Track & Course
The track is a left-handed, undulating circuit of around a mile and a quarter with tight bends and an uphill run to the finish. Horses need to be nimble to handle the turns and still have enough stamina for the climb.
Going & Ground
The going is often soft in winter, while spring and autumn fixtures usually take place on better ground.
Key Races
The Durham National, a staying handicap chase, is the course's best-known race, and the rest of the programme is made up of competitive handicaps and novice races.
