About
Punchestown racecourse in County Kildare is the home of Irish National Hunt racing and stages the Punchestown Festival, the end-of-season championship meeting each spring.
The Track & Course
The main course is a right-handed, galloping track of about two miles that rewards class and stamina. Punchestown also has a separate cross-country course with banks, used for its specialist races.
Going & Ground
Spring festival going is usually good to soft, though it can ride softer after rain, and winter meetings are often run on soft or heavy ground.
Key Races
The five-day Punchestown Festival in late April or early May features Grade 1 championship races, including the Punchestown Gold Cup and the Champion Hurdle and Champion Chase, as well as the La Touche Cup over the banks.
