Plumpton racecourse in East Sussex, at the foot of the South Downs, is a National Hunt track that races from the autumn through to the spring.

The Track & Course

The track is a left-handed, tight and undulating circuit of just over a mile, with a downhill run along the back straight and an uphill climb to the finish. Nimble, front-running types often go well, and course experience can be a real advantage.

Going & Ground

Winter going is often soft or heavy, which makes the uphill finish a stiff test. Autumn and spring fixtures usually have better ground.

Key Races

The Sussex National, a staying handicap chase, is one of the feature races, and the rest of the programme is built around competitive handicaps and novice races.
