Listowel Racecourse Guide
About
Listowel racecourse in County Kerry is best known for its Harvest Festival in September, a week-long meeting at the heart of the town's calendar. It stages Flat and National Hunt racing.
The Track & Course
The track is a left-handed, flat oval of a little over a mile, with tight bends. Speed and position count, and horses that race prominently are often hard to pass.
Going & Ground
September going can range from good to soft depending on the autumn rain, and a wet week can turn the ground testing by the later days of the festival.
Key Races
The Kerry National, a valuable staying handicap chase, is the feature race of the Harvest Festival, and a smaller meeting in June completes the course's season.
