Leopardstown Racecourse Guide
About
Leopardstown on the southern edge of Dublin is one of Ireland's leading racecourses, staging top-class Flat and National Hunt racing throughout the year.
The Track & Course
The main track is a left-handed, galloping oval of about a mile and three-quarters with a fairly level home straight. It is a fair, testing course that rewards class, and the jumps course places a premium on fluent jumping at the last fences.
Going & Ground
The going varies through the year, with good ground common on summer Flat evenings and soft ground likely during the winter jumps festivals.
Key Races
The Christmas Festival and the Dublin Racing Festival in February are the big jumps fixtures, featuring the Irish Gold Cup and Irish Champion Hurdle. On the Flat, the Irish Champion Stakes in September is one of the best middle-distance races in Europe.
