Hexham racecourse sits high in the Northumberland hills overlooking the Tyne Valley and is one of the most scenic jumps tracks in the country. It stages National Hunt racing.

The Track & Course

The track is a left-handed, undulating circuit of about a mile and a half with a stiff uphill finish. Stamina and a strong finish are needed, especially over the longer trips.

Going & Ground

Its exposed setting means the weather can play a big part, and winter going can be testing. Spring and early-autumn meetings usually offer better ground.

Key Races

The Heart of All England Hunters' Chase in the spring is the course's traditional feature, and the rest of the programme is made up of competitive handicaps and novice races.
