Gowran Park Racecourse Guide
About
Gowran Park racecourse in County Kilkenny stages both Flat and National Hunt racing and is an important venue during the Irish winter jumps season.
The Track & Course
The track is a right-handed, undulating circuit with an uphill finish. It is a testing course where horses need to stay well and jump soundly.
Going & Ground
Winter going is often soft or heavy, turning the longer races into stamina tests, while summer Flat fixtures are usually run on good ground.
Key Races
The Thyestes Chase in January is the course's best-known race, a valuable staying handicap chase that often points towards the spring's big nationals.
