Down Royal Racecourse Guide
About
Down Royal racecourse near Lisburn in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, stages both Flat and National Hunt racing. It is home to one of the first Grade 1 chases of the Irish jumps season.
The Track & Course
The track is a right-handed, galloping circuit with long straights that suit strong-travelling horses. It is a fair course where good jumpers can make the most of the long run to the line.
Going & Ground
The going is often soft in the autumn and winter, while summer Flat fixtures usually take place on good ground.
Key Races
The Champion Chase at the November festival is the course's biggest race and often features leading staying chasers, while the Ulster Derby is the summer highlight on the Flat.
