bet365 Gold Cup Betting Offers and Promotions

Despite not carrying quite the same prestige as other National Jump races such as perhaps, say, the Grand National, you’ll still be able to find a few bonuses and promotions worth taking advantage of for this event. As always, best odds guaranteed deals will be easy to find at all the top betting sites, and you may even be able to bag the odd money-back offer or odds price boost deal if you look hard enough.

Whilst it is true that you may not be able to find a great number of special bet365 Gold Cup betting offers that have been specifically tailored for the race, it’s always worth checking your operator terms and conditions as you may be able to redeem some of the free wagers you’ve accumulated from bet refund deals.

bet365 Gold Cup Betting Odds Levels

As is the case for the majority of the races we’ve featured here on the site, bet365 Gold Cup betting odds levels will always be competitive. What’s particularly interesting here, however, is its unpredictability. Due to being run late on in the jump season, the race often features an intriguing mix of runners; some are capable of competing in Grade 1 jumps such as the Grand National while many are novice chasers. Still, however, some real long shots have gone on to take the top prize. Just A Par and Quentin Collonges were both victors with starting prices of 14/1 in 2015 and 2013 respectively while Church Island won with a starting price of 20/1 back in 2010. Similarly, the race has been won by selections of all ages and weights, with no clear or defining trends to speak of. In short, while odds levels may be more attractive well before the race kicks off, don’t be lured in: study the form of the competitors and carefully handicap the field before you place a wager.

Some Interesting Facts

Back when it was known by its old name, the Whitbread Gold Cup, this race was won by some of the true greats of jump racing. Arkle, the Irish gelding whose remains are still displayed at the Irish National Stud in Tully, County Kildare, won the race in 1965, the same year he won the Cheltenham Gold Cup. He was also victorious at Cheltenham in 1964 and in 1966. 1965 was a stellar year for the sire of Archive; he claimed the King George VI Chase, the Hennessy Gold Cup, the Leopardstown Chase and the Gallagher Gold Cup.

Another iconic competitor was Desert Orchid (affectionally known as Dessie) who claimed first prize back in 1988. Foaled in 1979 in Leicestershire, England, Dessie won the King George VI Chase four times in his career in 1986,1988,1989 and 1990, as well as the Gainsborough Chase in 1987, 1989 and 1991. He also claimed the Irish Grand National in 1990 and Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1989, among many other notable wins. His long and accomplished career has given him a Timeform rating of 187, which ranks him among the greatest jump horses of all time.

The Story So Far

Run over a distance of approximately 3 miles and 5 furlongs, it was first inaugurated in 1957 and was named the Whitbread Cup due to its sponsorship link with what was then a brewing company, making it a relative newcomer compared to the other events we’ve reviewed. This sponsorship finished in 2001, which marked the end of the first and longest-running commercial sponsorship in British sporting history. Since then the race has been sponsored by At the Races and Betfred before teaming up with it’s most recent partner, bet365; hence, bet365 Gold Cup betting on horses is hugely popular in the UK.

Today the Gold Cup is a well-attended race that commands crowds of over 15,000 and is broadcast live on ITV. It is a family-friendly, social event where a number of other noteworthy races, such as the Grade 2, the bet365 Oaksey Steeple Chase, the Grade 1, bet365 Celebration Steeple Chase and the bet365 Josh Gifford Novice’s Handicap Steeple Chase are held.

Now that you’ve got the lowdown on the best betting sites for this event in the UK, you know exactly where to make your wagers when the event comes around in April!
